COMPETITION: ROSEBOWL ROUND 1
VENUE: STOKE POGES via ZOOM
DATE: 28.10.25
JUDGE: Damon Guy
OVERVIEW: The Rosebowl is a competition where clubs play against each other in groups of 3 or 4 using 15 PDI images. The winner of each competition goes through to the next set of heats with the other winners of other groups.
COMMENTARY: The first round of the Rosebowl was virtually held at Stoke Poges. Many thanks to the numerous members of FEPS who dialled in to support.
We were against Oxford, Croxley and Stoke Poges in this first round.
Whilst wildlife appeared to dominate the held back images, we did have three (non wildlife) images held back – What a scoop by Paul Burwood, Door to Middle Earth by Justin Grant and The Dilemma by Belinda Ewart. Sadly, none of these images got the top spot on this occasion.

Door to Middle Earth by Justin Grant

The Dilemma by Belinda Ewart
One of the stand out images was a macro shot of a spider sitting in its leafy environment, silk web included, the image had great autumnal colours and lovely light. (Croxley)
The final scores were:
In 4th place: Stoke Poges with 245 points
3rd Place was Oxford with 251 points
2nd Place was FEPS with 252 points
1st Place was Croxley with 259 points
The next round of the Rosebowl will be held at FEPS on 3rd December when we’ll be up against Milton Keynes and Banbury!
