Welcome to the start of the new season.
Prospective members can get an idea of what we do at Field End; existing members can revisit some highlights of last season; and all can meet and greet. Some of our organisers will introduce themselves and give an idea of how the club works and share some of the highlights for the coming season.

24 Speaker: Elizabeth G Photography
Elizabeth’s expertise spans both the realm of fine art portraiture and corporate photography. She crafts stunning fine art portraits and caters to business needs through professional headshots and event coverage.

26 – 28 Outing: Isle of Sheppey
The Isle of Sheppey and North Kent offer visitors a diverse range of photographic opportunities from coastal scenery and beaches to wildlife reserves and historic sites.

OCTOBER

1 Workshop: Mono
Despite the popularity of colour photography, monotone images continue to hold their allure in portraiture, landscapes and many other genres. Ideas for what will help you to make a successful and compelling mono image will be explored and shared.

8 Speaker: Viveca Koh FRPS FIPF
Viveca makes a welcome return to FEPS to talk about her highly inventive and accomplished photography.

15 Members Evening: My Picture, My Story
Do you have an image of which you are particularly proud or fond? Members are invited to share their inspiration and thoughts about an image or set of images which has a special meaning for them.

Best known for his landscape photography, Mark is a master of his craft having spent over 40 years capturing the beauty and essence of the UK landscape.

4 Speaker: Claire Carter – Dancing Lights
Following a decade of aurora hunting Claire will be illuminating us with a Zoom presentation on the technical and creative aspects of capturing this illusive and spectacular visual. Please note: This presentation will be available to view at our regular venue in the Methodist Church Hall.

We are delighted to welcome Brian back to FEPS to share his extensive knowledge and experience of portrait photography. A great opportunity to learn from a master of his craft.

4 Speaker: Ken Scott
Ken has been taking an image every day since 2008 for his “Project Infinity” and cannot envisage it ever coming to an end. In his own words he says that “the project has shaped my approach, not just to photography, but to life itself”.

18 Studio Evening: Brian Worley, Portraiture Photography with models
This is a follow up practical workshop to Brian’s presentation on 19th February. A highly popular event in our calendar, so bring your cameras and make the most of an evening with professional models, lighting set ups and the benefit of an experienced portrait photographer on hand to offer advice on capturing a stunning image.

1 Speaker: Jeremy Hall
An accomplished film maker, Jeremy began his working life making pop videos and commercials before moving onto creating documentaries and writing. He now spends his time exploring the landscape to capture compelling images which he hopes will help others to connect with their surroundings

Starting at Cambridge Heath Station, discover some of the history of this vibrant and fascinating area of East London.

22 Members’ Evening: Short Talks
One of our greatest assets is our membership; Philip O’Brien, Andrew Bloomfield and Munjal Rawji will be inspiring you with their images and creativity.

29 Competition: Print of the Year
Bring along your monochrome prints to compete for the Jewell Cup, and your colour prints for the Bison Shield.
Judge to be announced on the evening.
Up to 2 entries allowed for each trophy.

MAY

3 – 16 Field End Exhibition
Our very own exhibition full of your great images.
Bring your family and friends. Open daily at the Cow Byre, Ruislip HA4 7SU from 10 till 5. Last day 16th May till 3pm.

6 Speaker: Tom Way – Wildlife
Tom will be sharing his spectacular fine art wildlife images as he talks about the places he visits and the methods of capturing his superb images.

11 External Competition: Les Spitz Wildlife Competition at Pinner CC

13 Members’ Evening: “Match a PDI”
Our in-house match a projected digital image and time for a bit of fun. Three teams will compete to get the best match.

20 Speaker: Andy Sands
A lifelong lover of natural history, Andy puts his photographic talents to use capturing many aspects of our abundant flora and fauna in the UK. Tonight, the theme of Andy’s talk will be bird photography.

27 Annual General Meeting
Please show that you care about Field End PS by attending this important evening. The new committee will be elected and it is your chance to share your views and ideas about the running of the Society.

June

3 Competition: Projected Image of the Year
The season’s best projected images will be on display as the competition takes place. Judge to be announced on the evening. Note: Up to 3 entries allowed. Entries must be numbered in order of preference.

7 Outing: Burnham on Crouch
Explore the historic riverside town of Burnham with its shipyards and sail boats offering fantastic photographic opportunities. It the nautical theme is not your thing, then the local birdlife or Burnham’s picturesque railway station provide a thrilling alternative.

10 Competition: Three Print Panel
Each panel competes for The Edith King Memorial Trophy. A panel should consist of three prints, which are linked by a common theme or consistency of style. Prints should be numbered in the order in which they are to be presented.
Each print panel will be judged as a whole on composition, lighting, techniques used, print quality, cohesion and panel
presentation. Note: Up to 3 panels allowed. Judge to be announced on the evening.

17 Speaker: Mark Mawson – Liquid photography and acrylic ink
A renowned advertising photographer and director, Mark specialises in photographing liquids for big brand names and advertising agencies. Prepare to be dazzled by his captivating and inspiring images.

24 Social Evening: AV videos and Presentation of Awards
An enjoyable way to finish our season with a meal and presentation of all the season’s trophies, held at the Woodman Pub, Joel Street, HA5 2PR.
